DAY SEVEN: SATURDAY 4TH OCT

The morning was the most humid in our week here. There was more cloud cover. It was not a good day with the SA teams. Deano’s team went down to a skilful WA by five goals. In the Supers the NT boys were pushed early by us and Speccy was on fire and finished with four goals including a drop kick. Again Grant Hawksworth stood out in midfield whilst Palmy was resolute in defence.

Kossy had his hand on it, the footy that is, in most centre bounces. They say tunnelling is ruled out! Pigs ar--! One of the more spectacular falls happened when Kossy’s opposing ruckmen had him going A over T!

Kossy saw Pluto and Jupiter for a couple minutes but came good for the second half.

The Territorians took the game out by 66 points and were deserved and humbled victors.

That emotion, on an individual basis, is how I felt after I was awarded the ‘Green Jacket’. That is the coach’s assessment of the SA Supers best player in the three games.

Man was I stoked, shocked and humble! Only thing to put a downer was us losing.

Relaxed before a chartered bus took most of SA members, that stayed at Parap Apartments, to the Darwin Convention Centre.

Some 1500 people enjoyed the brilliant night and atmosphere.

It only got better. The All-Australian teams for each age category were announced. For the Supers Grant ‘Surprise Surprise’ Hawksworth, Peter Window and…….ME were in the All-Australian side.


Well, I have to say this is my sporting highlight on an individual level. I couldn’t smile any more harder and I reckon it’ll be a permanent one!

I was high!

The dance floor was rocking and so was everybody else. Went to the Casino after for a few more bourbons. The mingling was the best part and everybody from whatever state mingled and that was speeciallll!
